Bar Mills holiday festivities

Camille Bourque is heading up the Christmas Tree Festival that sets up on Sunday, Dec. 4, at the Bar Mills Community Church, and Judy Sjulander is organizing the annual marketplace.

The festival marks the church’s second year sponsoring the annual event hosted for decades by the Buxton Garden Club. Bourque expects 30 trees decorated by groups, families and individuals to be displayed for public viewing.

Those sponsoring trees include the Narragansett No. 1 Foundation, Buxton-Hollis Historical Society, Dorcas Society of Hollis and Buxton, libraries, Girl Scouts, a 4-H club, Long Horn and the Buxton Recycling Center.

The event includes Buxton Garden Club floral arranging at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8; Breakfast with Santa, 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 10; eat in/take out lunch Tuesday, Dec. 13, by reservation by calling 929-4445; Christmas music/carols with Doug Hajjar, 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14; Blue Grass with Tim and Bonnie Joy, 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 17; Christmas cantata, 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 18; and Christmas sing-a-long/violin concert, 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 21.

The church will be open to view the treesĀ  from 2-3:30 p.m.on Tuesdays, Dec. 6, 13, 20 and 27; and from 2-3:30 p.m., Thursdays Dec. 8, 15 and 22.

Bourque said the church also has a giving tree with mittens, scarves and hats.

Sjulander is a key figure in the ninth annual Christmas Market Place, a holiday fair, which will be held from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3. Shoppers will find a variety of handmade crafts, wreaths, baked goods, pickles, jams and jellies.

Lunch will be served at the marketplace at 11:30 a.m. with soups, sandwiches and desserts.

Rabies clinic

Dogs and cats can be vaccinated at a rabies clinic 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Buxton Public Works garage, 215 Portland Road.

Cost is $8 cash per vaccination.

Dogs must be on a leash and cats are required to be in carriers. For faster service, pet owners should take previous certificates.

Anyone from any community is welcome. Hollis Animal Clinic, Vacationland Dog Club and the towns of Buxton and Hollis are sponsors. For more information, call Buxton Town Hall at 929-6171.

Church concert

A holiday concert is set for 2- 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 4, at North Congregational Church, 22 Church Hill Road, in Groveville (Buxton).

The concert features The Chandlers Band with lots of music and refreshments during intermission. Admission is cash donation for the church’s steeple fund.
