‘Souper’ Sunday success

Souper-bowl Sunday, a long-standing tradition at the First Congregational Church of Buxton, raised supplies of food and cash for the town’s food pantry.

“This year we collected about 75 pounds of food and almost $200 in cash donations,” said Susan Eldridge, church spokeswoman.

Super Bowl winners New England Patriots were cheered on by church members and The Rev. Allison Curry, church pastor, decked out in the team’s colors.

“Rev. Alli sported her Patriots hat in support of the team at the onset of the Sunday service,” Eldridge said.
