Sprouting Daisies at library

The Girl Scouts of Maine has announced a free Sprouting Daisies event at 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, at West Buxton Public Library, 34 River Road (Route 112), Buxton.

Sprouting Daisies events are for girls entering kindergarten or first grade and their families. For more information about Girl Scouts, call 888-4763 or visit girlscoutsofmaine.org.

Indian Cellar reminder

The Buxton-Hollis Historical Society is hosting a nature walk to Indian Cellar along the Saco River at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 22.

John Mattor of the Hollis Conservation Commission will lead the tour. Parking will be at the lot across from the Salmon Falls Library, at the intersection of Route 202 and the Old Alfred Road.

The walk will be followed by a barbecue that requires an RSVP by contacting Roberta Ransdell at 929-4529 or email robertaramsdell@myottmail.com.

Jazz ensemble 

The First Congregational Church of Buxton (Tory Hill Meetinghouse) is sponsoring the second annual Saco River Jazz Ensemble from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 30.

The free event will be held on the lawn at the church, intersection of routes 202 and 112. Those attending are invited to take a lawn chair or blanket.

A freewill offering will be collected to support the band. Hot dogs, popcorn, chips and homemade desserts, in addition to water and soda will be available to purchase.

In case of rain, the event will move inside the church.
