Choose truth, choose God

In response to Al Diamon’s column, “Strike down the heathen,” in the April 13th Lakes Region Weekly, Christians who are brave enough to publicly profess truth and faith can expect much persecution and excoriation especially from the press.

Think about the fact that Christians as a people group seem to have the least legal protection from abuse and attack for expressions of their faith. It breaks my heart that based on recent studies, Maine is one of the least churched states in the nation. I have met many, many good people in Maine but according to Scripture, “there is none good, no not one…” Jesus said that to make the point that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God; but only born again believers love God and will be in His heaven in eternity. We either love God or we hate God; there is no middle ground.

Mike Heath may not be a John the Baptist, but he and others put themselves at all kinds of risk to share the truth of God’s word. I beg you to consider this; If you die tonight and stand before God, what reason would you give for Him to let you come into His heaven?
