A “river canopy” and other artwork is under way at the Dana Warp Mill as part of the Art All Around installation to be displayed at multiple downtown locations in August. The initiative, organized by the Maine Center for Creativity, is creating large works of art from recycled materials, and will be featured in Blue Note Park and other locations from Aug. 6-14.
A public event for the installation is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 5, at 3 p.m., in Blue Note Park on Main Street, with an appearance from Mayor Colleen Hilton.
Volunteers from Take Action Portland participated at a public workshop last week, continuing work on the art installation, which has a river theme. Previous workshops have been hosted by My Place Teen Center and a host of other community partners.
Artists are working at Dana Warp Mill on pieces for the Art All Around installations set to go up around Westbrook next week.
