50th anniversary

Christine and Odie Kourapis, former longtime Westbrook residents, are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary this month.

The couple, who lives in Englewood, Fla., and Naples, were married on Oct. 27, 1957, in Portland.

They are the parents of Pamela Brewster Tutten, Katherine Kourapis Sipes, Athena Staton, and the grandparents of Christopher Brewster, Jason Brewster, Ryan Staton and Evan Staton.

Christine and Odie recently enjoyed an anniversary dinner in St. Augustine, Fla., where the family gathered to celebrate.

Kathy (Kourapis) Sipes said, “My parents and our family were long time residents of Westbrook. Dad and his father before him ran Kourapis Farms on Main Street and dad was a city council member for a while.”

Sipes said her parents spend winters in Florida, but return to Maine and to visit all their Westbrook friends every summer. “One of our dearest family friends and neighbors from Westbrook is Mrs. Ellie Saunders of Conant Street,” Sipes said.

Neales, a veteran of 23 years, will serve with Inshore Boat Unit 22, based in Groton, Conn.
