Dodgeball tourney promotes drug-free communities

WINDHAM — A local coalition that works to promote drug-free communities is hosting a March 7 dodgeball tournament fundraiser at Windham High School.

The event, which is set to last from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the high school gym, is hosted by the Be The Influence Coalition. The coalition’s mission is to “promote community collaboration and positive choices in reducing youth substance use” in Windham and Raymond.

The tournament will feature two divisions: 8th grade and under, and 9th grade and over. Teams can have six members and one alternate, and the cost is $5 per person.

The winning team will receive Portland Red Claws basketball tickets and T-shirts, and prizes will also be awarded for best team costumes and sportsmanship. Red Claws mascot “Crusher” is also slated to attend.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the coalition’s drug-free projects. Student teams can register at the Windham Middle School or Windham High School front offices and community teams can also register on the day of the tournament.
