The Centre of Movement School of Performing Arts has announced auditions for its production of “Cinderella.”
Open auditions are set for 3:30-5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, and 7-8:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, in the Community Arts Center, corner of College Avenue and School Street, in Gorham. Suggested ages for dancers are 7 through adult. Acting roles are available for adults and older teens.

Glenn Cummings, president of the University of Southern Maine, will speak when Gorham Historical Society meets at 6 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, in the President ‘s House on the Gorham campus.
The society will also conduct its quarterly business meeting.
Combating human trafficking
A monthly series, Potluck With a Purpose, aimed at fighting human trafficking, will continue at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, in South Gorham Baptist Church, 52 County Road (Route 22), Gorham.
The monthly event will feature a panel discussion focusing on pratical prevention of human trafficking moderated by Jennifer Morin of the Not Here Justice in Action Network.
“Three survivor leaders will be sharing their thoughts,” church organizer Cindy Elder said in an announcedment.
January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Those attending are asked to take food to share for the potluck meal. Snow date is Saturday, Jan. 28.
Tapping a Maine tradition
Maple syrup enthusiasts are invited to attend a program about tapping trees and making syrup 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, in United Church of Christ at North Gorham, 4 Standish Neck Road, in Gorham.
Join experienced sugarmakers for demonstrations and discussion on all aspects of making maple syrup – the sweetest gift of nature – in your own backyard.

The 2017 free throw contest sponsored by the Knights of Columbus No.10221 is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, in Shaw Gym in Gorham Municipal Center, 75 South St.
Registration begins at 12:45 p.m.
The event is for boys and girls ages 9-14 and proof of age is required at sign up. A prize goes to the winner in each age group and winners advance to district competition.
