Gorham Cares benefit

A citizen’s group, Gorham Cares, has planned a benefit for families of victims in the fatal crash on Narragansett Street in December.

A benefit with silent auction and dance will be held 7-11 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, at Spire 29, 29 School St.

Joseph Piawlock, 45, a passenger, was killed in a single-car crash and a 10-year-old daughter later died from injuries. Piawlock’s wife, another daughter, and a young friend were also seriously injured.

The band “Under the Covers” will perform in the benefit and the event features a cash bar.

Tickets are $25 and available from committee members and also at Gorham’s Mr. Bagel. Organizer Al Garcia said a limited number of tickets would likely be available at the door.

A family-friendly benefit is set for 1-4 p.m., on Saturday, April 15, in the gym at the University of Southern Maine campus in Gorham.
