Gray SnoWolves WinterFest is just around the corner on Saturday, March 7, and organizers have some exciting news.
The New Meadows Ice Racing Association (www.mnira.com) will be bringing automobile ice racing back to Crystal Lake for the first time since 1988. The racing kicks off at noon. This race will also be a fundraiser for New Lungs for George (www.newlungsforgeorge.org) so c’mon out and see some great racing for a great cause.
Fish Extraction Team, Inc., organizers for the popular ice fishing derby at Little Ossipee Lake in Waterboro, has asked to be the sponsor for the fishing derby this year. FET’s mission is to promote fishing and ice fishing as good family fun, which aligns perfectly with the mission of WinterFest.
Organizers are also gearing up for more fun, food and, oh, yeah, more food. They will have snowmobile rides, kids’ games put on by The Optimist Club, a bonfire, raffle drawings, a Snack Shack serving breakfast, lunch & snacks, and The Crystal Lake Association will be selling their awesome homemade goodies.
Even their old “poker run” gets revamped this year. No longer a game of chance, you better brush up on your Gray and snowmobile trivia because you gotta have smarts to win this year’s Fun Run.
The fishing derby starts at legal sunrise, snowmobile fun run starts at 9 a.m. and ice racing starts at noon. All activities will be held on Crystal Lake in front of St. Gregory’s Church in Gray.
