'Heavy smoke' at BEHS, students evacuated, released


STANDISH — Heavy smoke was reported Friday morning at Bonny Eagle High School, 700 Saco Road, and the Standish Fire Department was at the scene Friday morning.

A spokeswoman at the MSAD 6 superintendent’s office said students were evacuated to the adjacent Bonny Eagle Middle School in Buxton. The “students are not at risk” and were released at 11 a.m., according to the MSAD 6 Facebook page. 

A dispatcher at Cumberland County Regional Communications Center in Windham reported smoke on the second and third floors of the high school. Firefighters from Gorham and Windham are assisting at the scene.
