Inside Naples

Welcome winter

In the last edition, I commented on how mild it was, how we needed snow…I must have more pull than I thought because prayers have been answered. The Lakes Region experienced two storms on either side of a weekend. I am well aware of this because the Lake Region High School indoor track team had their championship meet scheduled on a Friday, which was cancelled due to a storm that was bigger than anyone expected. Then we got hit on Monday into Tuesday with another decent snowstorm with plenty of cold. Winter enthusiasts, party on!

Upcoming FUNraisers

‘Tis the season of fundraising events it seems, especially to support Lake Region High School activities. That is great in my eyes because it means these kids want to live life, and they are on the move. They just need our help.

• Project Graduation for the class of 2016 is holding an awesome Comedy Night Fundraiser at the Gold Room in Portland on Friday, March 11, at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and include three headline comedians, a huge silent auction and a 50/50 raffle. Some items include restaurant gift certificates, boat rentals, snowboard, golf and ski passes and much more. Please help support. The graduation committee is working hard to make this a successful event. Have dinner and 10 percent of food sales goes to the fund. Please call 221-2343 to buy tickets.

• Ever curious about attending a psychic medium reading? Here is your chance. Sonny Robinson, a.k.a. The Maine Medium, is coming to Naples to share his gift of connecting with the afterworld. The event will be held at Fountain of You Fitness and Event Space on Saturday, March 5. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., the event begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are just $20, with proceeds going to the Lake Region High School Band to support their dream of performing in NYC!

• The New York City spring trip planned is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. They will get to see the best of the best musicians perform at Lincoln Center, see a Broadway show, be instructed by a well respected orchestra leader and so much more. Space is limited. However, if demand exceeds space, a second show may be added. Please purchase your tickets at, where there is a link on the homepage to sign up. You can also call 939-2436 with any questions. This is a private event, not endorsed by Lake Region High School, but soley by private citizens wanting to donate funds to this amazing cause.

• A bracelet-making fundraiser is being sponsored by the Lake Region High School’s class of 2019. Join them for hors d’oeuvres and jewelry making. Create trendy, versatile leather-beaded jewelry that you can wear as a bracelet, necklace and even an anklet. Choose among an array of genuine stones and fine leather from Water’s Edge Jeweler, Ivy Jordan. The event will be held at the Camp Fire Grille at 656 North High St. in Bridgton on Thursday, April 28, from 6-8:30 p.m. Prepaid guests are automatically entered in the sterling silver hoops drawing. There is limited seating, so go and purchase tickets now for you and a friend!
