Last chance for ‘Wizard’
There is still time to see this Lake Region Community Theater musical with a casting of adults and children, including Raymond residents. You can see “The Wizard of Oz” at the Lake Region High School on Route 302 on Friday, Aug. 11, and Saturday, Aug. 12, and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 13. Tickets are $16 for adults and $12 for children 12 and under and seniors.
The show is directed by Rob Juergens, who also directs the Windham High School fall musicals. Brian Tingdahl is the music director and Pam Collins Stahle, a dance teacher at Raymond’s CenterStage Performing Arts School, is the choreographer. Enjoy the show!
Ladies Craft Group
Join Deborah Lafond and Kathleen Bent at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, at the Raymond Village Community Church, in the vestry, for an evening of crafting for the Christmas Fair. They have a new calico Christmas ornament project and other projects can be completed if people bring sewing machines. Please bring any calico cloth that you have, especially reds and greens and 4-inch Styrofoam balls. Light refreshments will be available. The church is located at 27 Main St.
Pot roast dinner
Pot roast, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, rolls, drinks and a brownie ice cream dessert will be served at the Raymond Village Community Church from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, and Saturday, Sept. 16, all for $10 for adults. These are the last two pot roast suppers for the year; the last one sold out.
Evening star party
Loon Echo Land Trust invites you to a relaxing Saturday, Aug. 12, evening under the summer sky, and if conditions allow, shooting stars, at Hacker’s Hill Preserve in Casco. The The Perseids Meteor Shower is always a favorite due to the warm summer temperatures. At its peak, this shower seems to originate from the constellation Perseus, giving rise to the name Perseids.
The event will be held from 9 p.m. to midnight. Make sure to bring a comfortable chair, bug spray, drinks and snacks. Park in the “Event Parking” area to the right of the summit. Rain date is Sunday, Aug. 13.
Part-time videographer wanted
A part-time/back-up videographer is needed to film meetings in town, most of which are held in the evenings. The candidate must be willing to learn to run various hardware and software to record, broadcast and save recordings.
