Dog park fundraiser

The Standish Dog Park Committee will hold a fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Standish Hardware, 5 Oak Hill Road. Hot dogs, chips and drinks will be available for a donation, and dogs will receive an orange bandana courtesy of Standish Hardware. A free drawing will be held for a Kurgo Voyager Canteen, and there will also be an estimation contest for a jar of treat

Orchard trip for seniors

Standish Recreation is hosting a trip for seniors to Ricker Hill Orchards in Turner on Oct. 10 that will include a guided tour of the orchard’s cider press, cranberry bogs and more. The group will leave from the Municipal Center at 8:45 a.m. and return at 3 p.m. The cost is $10 per person. For more information and to register, visit

Nerf night for kids

Nerf Night for students in grades 2-6 will be held from 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, George E. Jack Elementary. Students must bring their own eye protection and Nerf toy, and Standish Recreation will supply Nerf darts. The program will cost $15 per student. For more information and to register, visit

Pumpkin decorating

Kids in grades 2-6 can decorate pumpkins from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18 at the Municipal Center. Pumpkins and craft materials will be provided. The cost is $15 per student. For more information and to register, visit

Ghost hunt

The Standish Historical Society has two ghost hunts and cemetery tours at the Old Red Church on Oak Hill Road planned for 7-11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, and Saturday, Oct. 20. The Maine Paranormal Investigation Team will lead the events. Tickets are $20 and are available on the Standish Historical Society’s Facebook page. Proceeds will benefit the historical society.
