It's time for Saint Joseph’s College's annual Ice Bar event. Mark your calendars for   Feb. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Saint Joseph’s College’s annual Ice Bar will be held Feb. 3 from 5 to 8 p.m.

The event, which also will feature fire pits and an indoor lounge at the Alfond Center on campus, is open to everyone aged 21 and up.

Pre-bought tickets will cost $30, and tickets at the door will cost $35. Tickets include one drink ticket and hors d’oeuvres.

Babysitter training

A babysitter training class will be held Jan. 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Standish Municipal Center.

Skills covered will include child care, emergency care and basic first aid. Those who complete the class will receive American Red Cross babysitting certification.

Hot shot contest


The Parks and Recreation Department will host a hot shots competition at George E. Jack Elementary School on Jan. 30 at 3:30 p.m.

Contestants will shoot and make as many shots as they can in a limited amount of time. The winners will move on to a regional competition Feb. 21.

Mystery lunch

The Standish Parks and Recreation Department is holding a lunch trip for seniors on Feb. 1 from 11 to 1:30 p.m. at a surprise restaurant in the greater Portland area. The trip will cost $5 in addition to the price of food.

Indoor tennis

The second session of the town’s indoor tennis program, teaching tennis basics and other skills, will be held in February.

Students will take to Grand Slam Tennis in Falmouth for the classes. The session will begin on Feb. 7, and will cost $110 per student.
