Election Day June 11
The town of Standish will hold Town Meeting, municipal and school board elections, and the SAD 6 budget validation votes on Tuesday, June 11, when the polls will be open from 6 a.m.to 8 p.m.
During the week of June 3 and prior to Election Day, the registrar of voters and town clerk will hold regular business hours Monday to Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The Town Clerk’s Office will have extended hours until 7 p.m. on June 6 for absentee voting and voter registration.
Copies of the ballot are available online at standish.org. Absentee ballots for the elections are now available to request through the Town Clerk’s Office at 642-4678.
The Standish Recreation Department will be hosting a group hike on Mackworth Island in Falmouth on Monday, June 3 at 9 a.m. The island is a fairly flat, easy hike. Participants should wear proper footwear and bring a water bottle, bug repellant, and sunscreen. The hike will cost $5 per person. Last PTO meeting
The last PTO meeting of the 2018-2019 school year will be held at Edna Libby Elementary School on June 5 at 6 p.m. For more information, visit the Standish PTO Facebook page.
“Meditation for Stress Management” will be held at the Standish Municipal Center on Saturday, June 8 at 10:30 a.m. Instructor Robert Beane, a reiki master and holistic care practitioner, will lead the class. A weekly strength training class will be held at the Standish Municipal Center on Thursdays at 5 p.m. beginning Thursday, June 13. Hosted by personal trainer Amy Kilburn, the sessions will teach exercises with lightweight dumbbells or body weight to reduce chronic pain and increase body strength.
