Fireworks fundraising

McGoldrick Brothers Blasting of Windham will be the main sponsor of the Windham Summerfest fireworks display on June 20 on the grounds of Windham High School. This will be McGoldrick Brothers Blasting’s third year in supporting the fireworks display. Also sponsoring the fireworks display are Windham Automotive and Roosevelt Trail Garden Center.

The fireworks display will be discharged by licensed technicians from Central Maine Pyrotechnics from Hallowell. They were founded in 1987 and have done thousands of shows in Maine, Massachusetts, Vermont and New Hampshire. The Summerfest fireworks display will be discharged at dusk, at around 9:30 p.m., in back of Windham High School.

Library news

Works by artist Beth Kus of Windham are currently on display at the Windham Public Library. The exhibit of mixed media and photographs depicts Sebago sunsets, Quaker Ridge views and oceanside scenes. Kus’ work will be on display through July 31. The Windham Public Library is located at 217 Windham Center Road. For more information, library hours, or directions, call the library at 892-1908.

Book sale

A used-book and DVD sale will be held Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Windham Hill United Church of Christ at 140 Windham Center Road. There will be a huge selection of fiction and nonfiction. For more information, call the church at 892-4217.

Bean supper

There will be a baked bean supper Saturday, June 6, at 4:30 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church, 988 Roosevelt Trail, Windham. There will be a free-will donation for a family experiencing financial hardships. For more information contact Marcia at



The Rebekahs will meet June 3 in the Odd Fellows Hall at 7:30 p.m. This is a regular meeting. Brenda Collett is in charge of the program and Joan Labbe has the refreshments.

Foster Grandparents

The Foster Gandparent Program held its banquet May 14 in the Holiday Inn by the Bay. This was for Cumberland and York counties. Congratulations to Manchester School for being named School of the Year.

Food pantry

Madeline Roberts of the Windham Food Pantry would like to thank all who so generously supported the pantry at the annual yard sale held May 9 and the spaghetti supper May 17. Each event was very successful and many clients will benefit in one way or another from the generosity of the community.

Pet food drive

A pet food drive to benefit the Windham Food Pantry will be held Saturday, May 30, at the Kennel Shop, Shaw’s Plaza, Windham. Please donate a can or bag of food to feed the dogs and cats. If you are unable to be at the Kennel Shop on May 30, please leave whatever you choose with the staff whenever you are able. Barbara Muir would like to thank you in advance for
