Ski deals

Registration closes Dec. 8 for Shawnee Peak ski programs through the Recreation Department.

Wednesday “Family Days” begin Jan. 3 and Friday “Teen Nights” begin Jan. 5. All programs are for five weeks, and packages are available for lift tickets only or as packages that include lessons and rentals. Transportation is available for Friday nights. Also,  Shawnee Peak Unlimited Night Season Passes are available for $189. The passes are good six days a week after 3:30 p.m. with no blackout dates; Sundays are available on school vacation weeks. Passes may be purchased online at or by calling 892-1905.

Windham Veterans Center

Steven Lanning, veterans service officer from the Portland Vet Center, will be covering Windham for the near term until a replacement is found for Jon Connor.

Lanning will be at the Windham Veterans Center on Wednesday, Dec. 13,  from 9 a.m. to 3 p-.m. to assist local veterans with claims and information on veterans’ services. Lanning can be reached at  822-2391.

Teacher from Windham honored

Windham resident, Nesrene Griffin was honored recently as a semifinalist for the Maine’s 2017 teacher of the year. Griffin has taught third grade for eight years in the Lewiston Public Schools.
