My Place Teen Center recognizes and congratulates Lori Whitlock for the July 2016 Volunteer Spotlight. Originally from Portland, she resides in Westbrook and has been volunteering with My Place Teen Center for the past seven years. At least once a week, Lori onates her time to cook healthy meals for the MPTC kids. She also served on the board of directors for several years and continues to volunteer at special events. Lori is a member of the Advisory Council and maintains the teen center’s beautiful and bountiful gardens.
When asked why she continues to volunteer at the center, she replied, “Because community support is critically important to nonprofits such as MPTC. I volunteer because I’m passionate about programs that have a positive impact on the lives of our youth.”
Lori works as a self-employed regulatory consultant in the disability insurance industry, works part time as a Desmond & Rand P.A. law firm in Westbrook and has her own perennial and container gardening business. She is a lifetime learner and enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She is an integral part of the My Place Teen Center culture and all the staff is grateful and honored by her gracious and impactful efforts of support.
