Softball: Sanford cool off Blazes

The Lady Spartans downed their Westbrook counterparts at home Friday morning, besting the Blazes 14-2. Sanford’s Emily Begin batted 1.000, going 4-4 and bringing in four RBIs. Courtney Abby Blouin crossed the plate three times and Jordan Wilson belted a solo homerun.

Winning pitcher Jeannette Jones K-ed 11 batters, giving up just four hits. Of those, Westbrook’s Kerigan Demers had two, in her three at-bats. She also brought home one of the Blazes’ runs.

Sanford hosted Portland at 4 p.m. on Wednesday the 30th, after deadline, then heads to South Portland on Friday the 2nd for another 4 p.m. showdown.

Westbrook traveled to Deering on Wednesday, then hosts McAuley on Friday. Both games are also at 4 o’clock.
