Sports digest: Nordic experts on hand during ski swap and silent auction

The Cape Nordic Ski Association will host an annual fundraiser for Cape Elizabeth’s high school and middle school Nordic teams on Sunday Dec. 4 from 4-7 at the middle school cafeterium.

Nordic experts from Peak Performance will be on hand, including Roger Knight, who has served as the Swix race service director for the past five years. This will be a big plus for anyone looking for information on equipment, waxes, and racing at all levels.

Specialty equipment and advice will be available to check that hand-me-downs from the swap are fitted appropriately. New equipment and clothing such as warm-up pants and skiwear (including kid’s clothing) will be available. Special offers will be made available to the Cape Nordic skiing community.

In addition to the ski swap, a silent auction will be held. A sampling of some early auction donations includes a “Getaway” to Sunday River with a December weekend at the Jordan Grand Hotel; “Sweeten Your Life” with Cape Elizabeth Honey; “Spruce up your Home” with interior design consulting services from Deborah King Interiors; and “A day of Lobstering” on Casco Bay (haul traps and eat what you catch).

There’s something for everyone: gift certificates and quality items donated from local merchants, delectable home-made goodies and crafts, personal care and fitness services, ski equipment, vacation rentals, gift baskets, sporting event tickets and so much more.

Come and have fun with friends and neighbors, shop and enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and beverages.

Admission to the auction is free. For more information, call Sarah MacColl at 799- 2424.
