STANDISH — Town Council Chairman Steve Nesbitt confirmed Wednesday that the council will announce its pick for the open town council seat at its next meeting on Oct. 9.
The council has had a vacancy since August 8 when then-Councilor Isabel Higgins resigned, citing “the need to remove myself from the increasingly stressful situations and confrontational meetings which have become a regular part of the job” in her letter to town officials.
The town is also currently searching for a new town manager after former town manager Kris Tucker was fired on July 23.
Nesbitt said that the first round of interviews for town manager has been completed. After the council has discussed the potention candidates, it will “select some finalists and the proposal would then be to hold a public meet and greet, then meet with department heads and then hold a second round of interviews.” Nesbitt said the final selection for town manager will be announced near the end of October.
