The town of Freeport has retained Tranzon Auction Properties in Portland to auction online 10 tax-acquired properties, including single-family homes, mobile homes and residential lots.
Town Manager Peter Joseph said Monday that for the past two years, the town has been gathering tax-foreclosed properties to sell under one contract, which is a more economical approach.
Joseph said some of the properties are “pretty run down,” and some had been abandoned.
All the properties, he said, are vacant.
“Some owed several years in back taxes,” Joseph said.
One of the properties is a single-family home of about 3,292 square feet on 2.6 acres at 10 DiPietro Drive. Features include three bedrooms, two baths, a fireplace, deck and two-car garage.
Other properties are on Upper Mast Landing Road, Koehling Drive, Route 1, Prout Road, Allen Range Road, Webster Road and Maple Avenue. Minimum bids range from $1,200 to $57.000.
The town’s information posted online said the auctions will be offered through the Tranzon website, where photos, description of the properties, and bidding information are available.
Bidding will open on Tuesday, July 26, and close Thursday, July 28. The various bid closing times for the individual parcels are posted on the Tranzon website.
Information on each property can be reviewed by visiting www.tranzon.com/search.aspx?keyword=freeport maine. Interested parties can click on a property and then follow instructions.
“In addition, you may view online all the Property Information Packages (PIPs) for the tax acquired properties. These, along with a letter, have been sent out to all the abutters as well as the former owners,” according to the town’s website.
No one from Tranzon returned calls from the Tri-Town Weekly prior to the newspaper’s deadline Monday.
