Michael Daicy, Portland Fire Department historian, will speak when Westbrook Historical Society meets at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 426 Bridge St.
Daicy’s topic will be the great Portland fire of 1866.
Daicy will discuss the book “Portland’s Greatest Conflagration” that he co-authored with Don Whitney.
Class of ’55
to hear Duddy
The members of Westbrook High School class of 1955 will get together beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15, at the Sebago Lake residence of Bill Bragdon, 696 Whites Bridge Road, Standish.
Maine singer Jose Duddy will again be entertaining at the event. Duddy’s music includes country as well as standards such as songs by Bobby Darin, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and more.
Organizers are asking those attending to take their own food and beverage and, if they wish, something to share. All alumni of Westbrook High School are welcome as guests.

Final concert in new series Thursday
The band Model Airplane will perform Thursday, Aug. 30, as the new summer music series, Bands on the Boardwalk, winds up in Saccarappa Park. A free concert from a local band was featured for eight weeks starting July 12.
The music starts at 5:30 p.m.
Foye tourney reminder
The first Jim Foye Memorial Golf Tourney will start at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Gorham Country Club, 93 McLellan Road, in Gorham.
The tournament benefits the Jim Foye Scholarship fund. Foye passed away in March.
